Three’s Company
We had a unexpected addition to class this morning. A little girl from another worker from the office next to ours joined the lesson. This week we’re teaching all the major holidays we have in the US: Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Having theme-based units makes it easier for our students to stay focused and also make the lessons more interesting. They actually know most of them… at least in the commercial sense that most major holidays have become. Our afternoon was spent preparing for tomorrow. I think we have too much content. But better to have more than enough than not enough to fill the time!
Our evening student postponed until Thursday when all her staff will be back from the long weekend. No complaints here! And since all government offices were closed today it meant an easy commute home. I was looking forward to reading my book while in traffic. But I’ll take a speedy trip home over a couple chapters any day.
Not much else to report on. Still trying to come up with additional ideas for decorating the office. Did some searching for a particular style of illustration I want but struck out. Unlike searching Google for keywords, its hard to search for a particular style of art if you don’t know what to call it. Oye.
My dad has proven to be predictable again. His multiple statements of intention to travel to the US and resolve my stepmom and sister’s limbo have resulted in empty promises. And when confronted with this fact the response is merely more promises about future actions which will undoubtedly end in disappointment. His nonchalance towards the imposition he is putting on my mom and stepdad borders on insulting. And the fact that he has yet to speak with my stepdad only reflects the cowardice I know he tries to cover with disinterest and subterfuge. How one person can disrupt the lives of so many people is beyond me. I know airing my family’s dirty laundry isn’t looked upon well here… but the stink of it is too much too bear without opening a few windows.
