Interviews in Lannaland

Day two of our trip started early. First guest was the Deputy Mayor of Chiang Mai. Then, thanks to an unnamed individual who told us to check out, we waited in the lobby of the hotel for two hours. Thanks. Lunch was another northern specialty, Kow Soi. Very good. Tasty with just a touch of spiciness. Then we headed back to the Royal Flora for a press conference and two interviews. They both went smoothly. Some entertainment came afterward when I spotted a red ant that my producer helped back on a tree with other red ants marching up and down it. We both took some close-up pictures but failed to notice the ground we were standing on also had red ants. Naturally one crawled up inside my pants and bit me, hard, on the leg. The photo you see above is the culprit. I named him Jaws, after another famous man-eater.

We had a quick stop at a local market for some delicacies and then headed for the airport. Of course, the flight was delayed. And of course, getting a taxi at the airport at 11pm is almost impossible. Unless you’re willing to not use the meter and pay the pirate whatever he asks.

Sponsor Trip!

Today I’ve returned to the northern city of Chiang Mai to cover the developments on the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 International Exhibition. It is a major event at the end of this year and also happens to be my shows sponsor!

A short flight from Bangkok and we were there by midday. We left from the airport with our PR rep and headed straight for the venue. Even though it’s only sixty percent complete it was still awesome to see what they’ve accomplished. I think everyone, Thais and foreigners alike will be impressed. We toured around, taking insert shots and gathering information for tomorrow’s interviews.

There & Back Again

The first few hours of my day…

4:00am – Wake up
4:40am – Arrive at Bangkok Domestic Terminal
6:15am – Leave Bangkok Domestic Terminal
7:15am – Arrive Chiang Mai

Nothing beats an early flight to a place you just came back from two days earlier. Perfect timing. My shows biggest sponsor was holding an event and so I was selected among those few worthy for the task to cover the story and conduct interviews. Here’s the days breakdown:

1. Siam City Cement [ Chiang Mai Technical College, Insee Cement Simulation Workshop ]
2. Chiang Mai Zoo [ Giant Panda Bears 2 Year Anniversary ]

Tack on a delayed return flight and voila! Leave Bangkok in darkness and return in darkness. Thankfully I’m reading a new book that helps pass the monotonous hours that are my life. *grin*
